10 simple and effective ways to improve self-esteem
We have always come across the notion of “self-worth” and have often seen many speakers talk about it.
Self-worth is somehow related to self-esteem.
Self-esteem according to science is the ability to evaluate one’s own worth.
It includes all the beliefs which a person has with respect to himself.
For eg. “I am strong” or “I am weak” are two different types of beliefs that depict the type of self-esteem a person has.
The one who often believes that he is capable of overcoming everything because he is strong has higher self-esteem.
On the other hand, the one who thinks that he is weak and probably cannot do anything in life on his own shows signs of low self-esteem.
What is the difference between self-esteem and self-confidence?
Self-esteem is often confused with self-confidence and is often used interchangeably.
Toronto Psychologists have very beautifully explained the difference between self-confidence and self-esteem.
If we see it, self-confidence is an outward property, much of which is related to how we interact with the world. It is the amount of trust that we have in our own abilities and it is often developed through experience.
A person will feel confident about himself in a particular situation if he has gone through it several times.
Self-esteem is more of an internal property. It is not related to the outer world, rather it is related to how we see ourselves.
It includes the notions that we use to describe ourselves.
Self-esteem results in how we treat other people and how we treat ourselves, it often is responsible for how we feel.
We are going to work on building good self-esteem in this article, but if you want to also learn how you can develop self-confidence then don’t forget to check out this:

Importance of self- esteem:
Self-esteem is important because it eventually decides what you end up becoming.
If you do not have trust in yourself, if you keep on doubting yourself even while doing the smallest of tasks, you won’t be able to actually grow in life.
High self-esteem is important to ensure that you walk towards building self-confidence.
You first need to have faith in yourself in order to let other people see your worth.
“The man who says he can and the man who says he can’t are both correct.”– Confucius
Self-esteem is really important to grow and to become better as a person.
As self-esteem eventually decides what decision you make for yourself, it is important to improve your self-esteem to ensure that you only make decisions that help you in life, and not the ones you regret later.

5.If you wish to say “no” say it:
Just say it!
Saying no is not a crime.
