Morning is the decider, the way your morning starts sets the tone for the rest of your day. Even a small habit like snoozing your alarm can actually conclude how productive you will be for the upcoming hours.
The good thing is that you get to decide what you have to do with your mornings. What if I said that I can help you make your mornings as productive as possible?
And please, being productive does not mean boring.
The activities we do all throughout the day tend to drain our energy. These morning habits are going to help you bring those changes in your life that you were not able to initially.
Allow your eyes to roll down on this amazing list of 17 things you should be doing in the morning for a great start!
1.Do not check your phone:
I know I know, you have heard it several times. But unfortunately, you are going to see this everywhere until and unless you overcome this habit.
In the morning your mind is like a blank canvas. It’s up to you if you want to paint it with worries or positive things. You might have a lot of things to catch up on, but that can be done later in the day.
This is your time, dedicate it to yourself.
2. Reduce the number of times you snooze your alarm:
How many times do you snooze your alarm before actually getting out of bed? Tell me in the comment section.
Look, we all have been there, all of us are just trapped in the vicious cycle of watching series late at night and snoozing alarms eight times. But somewhere we know that it is not healthy and that’s why we should start working towards it.
I don’t know how many times you snooze your alarm, but from tomorrow, wake up 30 min. earlier than you usually do. For some people, it is really difficult to wake up early, and that’s why it is important that you start slow.
3. Stroll for 10-15 minutes:
Just go out, go to a near garden or if you have one in your house. Remove your flip-flops and just stroll in the garden. Trust me, it feels very refreshing when the frosty grass touches your feet.
It’s one of the best things I like to do in the morning. Don’t take your phone with you, leave it at home. Be there all by yourself, feel the freshness in the morning air and just relax.
Don’t think about your problems, don’t think about anyone, just enjoy the peace that surrounds you.
4. Drink one glass of lukewarm water:
Drinking warm water in the morning will help your body to flush out toxins. Try drinking it empty stomach. If you want you can also add drops of lemon or mint or cucumber or even tulsi leaves in it to get extended benefits.
5. Listen to something motivating:
If you do not have time otherwise, try including this on your free days such as Sunday mornings. Listen to a motivating story, a podcast, or anything that gives you the inspiration to make this day the best.
It doesn’t have to be something that is 30 minutes long, it can be as small as a 5-minute podcast. You can also listen to it while preparing your breakfast, or even while getting ready for work.
6. Do some kind of exercise:
Exercising is really crucial. You won’t believe it, I literally feel sleepy on days when I don’t work out. I am so used to working out or performing high-energy training that it actually have started deciding the energy levels of my day.
I think this is the easiest and the most effective way to feel more energized during the morning. Like again, if you haven’t been working out all this time, you can just start with running or even just going for a walk.
7. Try waking up around 6 or 7:
Try to wake up around 6 to 7 AM, this way you will get tonnes of time to actually follow all these things that I have listed here. If you are someone who becomes a superhuman in the morning and is able to finish all his tasks within 30 minutes, it is not something you should be proud of.
When you see it carefully, this habit of yours is not contributing to your productivity. Also, if you wake up at this time, the sunlight is also not that harsh and you can easily take your dose of vitamin D.
8. Decide three goals for the day:
Ask yourself what are those 3 things that you would like to achieve today. That shouldn’t be a part of the things you already include in your daily schedule.

Try setting up a different goal for each day. For example, you can decide to drink 3L of water today or start with learning a new skill.
These are the examples of long-term goals that you will continue for like 30 days until it actually becomes your habit. Short-term goals can include reading all the emails or catching up with an old friend.
9. Read newspaper:
Another productive thing you can do is to read the newspaper. For some, reading the newspaper is a very boring thing. It is not important to read the paper, you can also read the news from several apps. Or you can even watch it on TV.
Reading news is important because it will tell you about the current happenings in the world and you will stay updated.
10. Make your bed:
Making your bed gives you a totally different sense of achievement, no doubt. Some people like to keep everything in an organized manner and for them, it is a way to keep themselves at peace. You can also try doing it because eventually you only have to do it.
11. Set up expectations for the day:
Setting up expectations for what your day is going to look like is crucial. Not everything that is going to happen to you today will be in your hand. But how you go through that, how you make decisions, it is all up to you.

Tell yourself some positive affirmations, remind yourself how strong you are and what are your strengths.
12. Decide your OOTD:
How you dress really decides how you feel. Try to look your best, it is going to uplift your mood. You can only practice this if you wake up early and prevent yourself from taking the form of a superhuman.
13. Greet everyone with a smile:
It’s okay, sometimes you will face gloomy days, and I won’t force you to force yourself to smile. But when you are actually feeling good, when you are filled with positivity, there is no harm to share it with others.
Your smile really has the power to brighten up someone else’s day, don’t ever underestimate the magic that lies in your smile.
14. Catch up with your family:
We already have such a hectic schedule that we are barely able to take out time for our families. No don’t worry, your family isn’t going to taunt you for being such a lazy ass (or maybe they will) but eventually, they are the ones who love you so much. Just go and sit with them, have tea, they are going to get very happy.
15. Read a quote for the day:
Starting your day with a quote will motivate you a lot. If you don’t know where to find quotes on daily basis, you can come to my site to read inspiring quotes. You are more than welcome.
You know, when I was a kid, there was this church in my school. I studied in a missionary school, to be precise. So, every morning I used to go there with my friends and there was this small platform on which a small plastic box was there which had strips of paper with quotes written on them.
So every day we used to pick a chit and read the quote on it and put it back. It used to feel so good. You should also try reading one quote daily.
16. Sip on coffee while reading your novel:
If you’re not sure what you want to do, just grab your novel and your cup of coffee and just sit on a comfortable sofa or in your balcony. This is going to really calm your mind and will help you get your brain running to catch up with the fast-paced life.
17. Decide on a bad habit that you will prevent doing today:
This is something very interesting. Today you have a chance to get rid of one habit you hate. Ask yourself, what is the one thing that often puts you in trouble or contributes the least to your productivity.
Tell yourself to not do that thing today. For example, you might have a habit of checking your phone frequently. So, tell yourself that you won’t do that while working and if you did, you will get a punishment.
Decide a punishment for yourself. Stick to this ploy, no matter what. You will seriously see some positive changes.
There is no need to rush. Start with taking baby steps. Imagine how this morning routine is going to help you with becoming the person you aspire.
